A recent study has found that four bad behaviors—smoking, drinking too much alcohol, not exercising, and not eating enough fruits and veggies—can, along with causing an early death, in effect, age you by as many as 12 years.
Fortunately, you can do something to correct harmful and unhealthy behaviors. And when you decide to adopt ‘healthy’ as your lifestyle, here are 10 mistakes to avoid at all costs.
Stop comparing yourself with other. “You are Beautiful” – this is only what matters. The challenge should be within you, not with someone else. Look at the mirror in the morning and start competing yourself to reach your fitness goal.

“Love your body like your baby”. You are the only one who can shape your body as you want to, no other person can do it for you.
- Holidaying means lots of craving
Know what is best for your body. Do not ignore your body, and your goal of being healthy, when you are on vacations. Don’t let a few days of vacation nullify months of hard-work and training.
- Eyeing for fitness advises all around
It is alright to keep looking for fitness tips, healthy recipes and advises all around in social media, blogs, newspapers, etc., BUT you need to figure what works for you. Every body is different and what works for one person not necessarily would work for another. Stick to what works best for you.
- Looking for quick results
Make a note that you have to allow your body sometime to respond. Enjoy the period of your fitness journey and fall in love with fitness. Don’t be disappointed if there are no instant results – it may take time, but it’s definitely worth it.
- No knowledge about your body
Get a complete check-up of your body before going for any fitness regime so that you don’t end up with any new medical ailment. This is one of the first, and most important steps of adopting a healthy lifestyle – know where you stand.
- Trying all tips on yourself
Stop experimenting on your body without proper guidance. Your body is the only place you have to live take good care of it. What works for others doesn’t mean it will work for you and finally will demotivate you. “Love your body, know your body and be picky when it comes to your body.”
- Not consulting fitness coaches
We all know well that what we eat decides how our body will respond, and still, we often tend to ignore the need of an expert or a fitness coach to guide us into becoming healthy. Understand what you should eat to be fit and what’s good for your body. If you are really serious about your body fitness and want to adopt a healthy lifestyle then do visit a fitness expert or a nutritionist for guidance. Remember, “consult your fitness coaches earlier to avoid regular visits to the doctor later”.
- Don’t stop craving for your best food
Don’t starve for your favorite food even when you are trying to adopt being healthy. If you know it is fatty and unhealthy, then take a bite or share and eat, so that your craving can be satisfied and you limit your portion.
- Starving is not a good idea
Always remember, your body needs fuel to work, “A good fuel” will increase your efficiency, “a bad fuel” will feeble your body, and “no fuel” will ruin it.
